1st ride after Cali ride, Can it be check please, it seems a little high!!

Hi John,

Tom at Technical has emailed a update patch and the PP is working :D
Ive noticed that the watts are high and wonder if you could have a look at the attached file for the 41 mile ride please.

Bit of background info. My last FTP on a Turbo Trainer was on 16th March and was 251watts adjusted as it was a 20 minute test ( was 264watts measured but - 5% due to 20minute test and not 60 minutes ). Now I havent done a FTP since the weather has turned warmer so I would expect it to have gone up ( I dont race just ride with friends but they do say Im fitter than them even at 55yrs old ).
The ride today of 41 miles I initially went reasonable hard but eased off around 30 miles but on My Garmin 1000 it states I have a New FTP of 283watts. That seems a little high but I suppose its only an increase of just over 7% so could be right.

Im hoping it accurate as the FTP increase is very good news lol.

Thanks again.

Regards.

Tony.

Your Garmin used the first 20 minutes of your ride to get that FTP.

Unfortunately, for the first 8 minutes of those 20 minutes your PP was recalibrating itself. You can see that the watts are high.

Other than the first 8 minutes your ride looks great!

I lopped-off the first 8 minutes of the ride and analyzed the remainder. Your peak 20 minutes was 265W, which would give an FTP of 252W.

Ride file attached.

Hi John,

Thanks for looking at the file. Does anyone know if the PP recalibrates every ride for the first 8 minutes or is it just the first longer ride after the initial calibration.

Thanks again John.

Regards.

Tony.

Automatic recalibration happens every ride. If your PP is mounted at the same angle then you won't have a problem during the first 8 minutes.
