Incorrect Elevation data

I am a new user, and have set up a profile and completed calibration. Recent rides appeared to give sensible data, however, I am concerned with the data from my ride on Saturday, as the data for the first 40 minutes does not make sense. The slope/elevation and wind data is incorrect at the start and as a result, power is not recorded. Anxious to avoid this error again. Can anyone suggest a cause?

I've never seen this before...and that's saying a lot!
Did you do a hard reset of your PP at any point in the ride?
It looks like things sorted themselves out during the ride.
Please do another ride and post your ride file. Hopefully things will be OK.

Thank you for the quick response. I did not reset it during this ride. It fixed itself, though it did need a hard reset after our coffee stop. It had been raining before the ride and my bike was outside on the bike carrier. Could rain have caused this? I will post a new ride as soon as I get the chance to complete one.

Yes, the rain explains everything.
If your PP was on a bike carrier, then what happened is that the wind port became clogged by driving rain. Once your PP wind port dried out things were OK.
When transporting your bike, if it is raining, then remove your PP from your handlebars.

Thanks for the advice. I have been doing that and I have had no further problems, except of course that the power often reads high for the first 6 minutes after re-mounting until it is re-calibrated, despite taking exceptional care over the position. Much better than the rain issue though.

I have this happen when I transport the bike over long distances. I believe that the transportation of the bike causes the PP to believe the alignment has changed and so recalibrates for tilt.

Make sure the wheel that measures wheel speed cannot rotate. If it is stationary then PP calibration settings won't be affected.
