Changing bikes

Post by Glenn Belt »

My current powerpod has never left its mount on my current bike, it's charged and ISAACed in situ and as such I've never needed to recalibrate it however next week I'm getting 2 new bikes and intend to swap the PP between the 2. I assume that as long as the powerpod is placed onto bike A's mount, which never moves and connects to bike A's sensors then it will automatically be ok for bike A . Basically if bike A and B's mounts never change and have separate sensors then I should have reliable data straight out of the door?

You’ve probably got your (road?) bike set up in Profile 1.

To set up your second bike (which I assume uses a separate speed/cadence sensor) do the following:

1) Connect your PP to Isaac

2) Go to "Device/Set Active Profile in Newton"

3) Select Profile 2. Then, disconnect PP from Isaac

4) Click the PP button. It should be solid red, indicating that it is ready for setup on profile 2

5) Follow the normal setup procedure including pairing and 5 minute ride with your TT bike

You’ll now have your road bike on Profile 1 and TT bike on Profile 2

On your daily rides you’ll be using one of these two bikes. At the end of each day’s ride make sure the PowerPod is without speed signals for at least 20 minutes. PP will go to sleep.

When you’re ready to ride, wake up the sensors on the bike you’re using on the ride. Make sure the sensors on the other bike are asleep (i.e. you did not move the “sleeping” bike around).

Then, wake up the PowerPod. PowerPod will find the sensors of the bike you’re using and it will automatically switch to the profile that is right for that bike.

Note that, whenever you remove PowerPod from its mount, the first 8 minutes of the next ride might show some watts differences, while PowerPod dials-in the calibration.
