High Watts

Post by j4ese »

Hi

Have new Powerpod been on 2 rides and watts showing to high, is there anything I can do to get normal readings.

I the ride there was 3 of us and I was drafting for some time.

I have also added a 5 mile out and back ride.

Thanks

John is there something wrong with my post asking for help to get my powerpod giving realistic numbers as reading to high watts.

I ask as you have completely ignored my post and you have dealt with other posts newer than mine.

Thanks

My apologies; I was on an airplane returning from Eurobike when your post was made, and by time I got home and clicked the "new messages" tab in the forum, yours did not appear. :-(

Your watts are high but the fix is simple: using your out and back ride I applied the "Device/Check Calibration..." feature of Isaac.

This feature adjusted your wind factor to the correct level.

Corrected profile and ride files are attached.

Ok understand thanks.

So do I add the new rides to Isaac and save to my PP and all settings are adjusted so I have to make no more changes?

Also I did my 20 min FTP yesterday (attached) which I don’t fancy doing again soon, is there anything I can do to check to make sure my numbers in that ride are correct.

Thanks

This looks good.

You had a headwind on your FTP test; does this sound correct to you?

What is your weight and height? That is the only other refinement that can be made (if necessary).

Thanks for looking.

Yes was head wind on my 20 min FTP and on the 20 min section it's say my norm power was 271. Not sure if that's good or bad.

My weight is 75/kg and hight 71 inches.

Thanks

To learn more about FTP and NP, please consult the Newton instruction manual, located in the Help menu of Isaac.

In the ride file your total weight (bike + rider) is set at 205 pounds. This weight is high for you so I adjusted your profile for total weight of 86 KG. This will reduce your 20 minute test result a bit (from 288W to 284W) , since you did much of your test on hills.

Corrected profile and FTP test are attached (you don't have to do your FTP test again!)

Load the attached profile into your PowerPod, and use an FTP value of 284 * .95 = 270W
