calibration help please

Post by seelb »

my scale was a bit to nice to me.. so had to adjust my weight with a few kilos in my profile.
the pod calibrated but then my power seemed way lower then before the weight update...
during the ride i stopped the pod a few times so there are some holes

i did a isaac calibration but not sure if this is correct...
help appreciated!

Your weight was updated.

It looks like your PP is not securely attached to the mount; the slope is changing all over the place.

Make sure you tighten the mount screw so that the PP cannot rotate. This will fix your problem.

thank you John for your quick reply. during the ride I tempered a lot with the pod so thats why the numbers are all over the place.
but after the calibration i did nothing to it and just saw the lower watt numbers and i can imagine them beig so much lower just by increasing my weight with a few kilos?

cheers

Please do a ride with your PP not rotating around, then post the ride file. That will tell the story.

Somehow your Crr was too high (0.0067; should be 0.004).

Corrected profile and ride file are attached.

Other than this, your ride file looks great!

Thank you!!

Is there a way to apply new profile to old rides?

Yes. After loading the corrected profile into Isaac, open the file you want to change.

Then, use "Tools/Switch Profile after the Ride"

Select the corrected profile.

You can then save your updated ride file.

Good day John,

I have another question about calibration ride. I have set up from isaac newton a profile, then I have set up the weight with more accurate data and send PP. I have sync all the sensors (HR, Speed and cadence) with it successfully.
Now my question is: Could I make the first calibration ride today, and the out and back ride tomorrow to tune fine the profile? Or maybe both rides have to be done in the same ride/day?

Thanks and regards :)

Good day John,

Today I made an out and back ride of 45km. (I attach the .ibr file)
Could you please say me if you see something wrong? Because there're a short time that PP read drafting, but I've ride alone all the ride.

Is this file good to made a check calibration? I attach a screenshot of what happen if I use Check calibration. Would be better to do other O&B ride shorter to check calibration?

Regards!

Thanks!! :)

Then... Would do you do a check calibration with this ride and send the new profile to PP with the changes like the pics? Or the profile is fine?

I think the PP is working properly, but I haven't made a "check calibration" before, and I use to read this like one of the step to tune in the profile :)

This is a 50KM ride out and back ride., 50Km is quite long for the check calibration feature.

I note that, between KM 7 and KM 24.5, wind speed is almost identical to bike speed. This suggests your PP is well-calibrated.

Between KM 4 and KM 7, and KM 24.5 and KM 27.2, wind speed is less, as if you were drafting. However, this is in the same spot in your ride, suggesting that something else is going on.

I would leave calibration as it is.

Yes John, I have checked this spot and it's a section of highway. Some days like today there're tail wind in both direction, I don't Know how!!. I will keep the calibration, and I'll try to do a shorter O&B ride to can check properly to finish the tuning of my PP :)

Thanks for all,
Best regards!!

Good Day John,

Today I made a short training, 31km (19,26m). Here you have .ibr file to check calibration... if all is working properly, or I need to change something of the profile :)

Thanks in advance!

Hi john,

I was looking to set up my weight... because I gain weight in christmas, but something strange happen. I procced as follow:

1. I extracted the profile of my last ride file.
2. I edited my weight in "advance"
3. I change switch profile after ride.

Then, the average watts of the training decreased from 147.3 to 142.9... The watt should increase if I have gain weight no?
I attach a photo. Please, let me know if I'm doing something wrong.

Thanks a lot.

Good day,

Could you look at it? I have a new ride from today.
I usually ride on hood, but I have hood elbows bent. Is it a big difference? Maybe I should recalibrate from the beginning?

Regards
