I recently received my iBike Pro and started having fun with it immediately. As I learn more about it, questions are popping up. Here are some:
1. When calibrating for wind offset, is it O.K. to take the unit off the bike and do it indoors (maybe even in the car) or does it have be connected to the mount for some reason?
2. I found a great spot for calibration rides and did 15 coast-downs and a 7.1 mile out & back ride. I forgot to do a trip-reset at the end of this ride. Does this matter?
3. I’d like to look at this 7.1 mile calibration ride again after I sent the profile to the unit. Is this file re-viewable?
4. In some of my rides, the max “Aero” wattage is higher than the max “Power” value. I thought the power generated was broken down to air resistance, gravity, etc. so the fact that aero component was bigger than the total didn't make sense. Can you correct my understanding here?
Thanks.

Re: New user questions
Myuce,
Glad you are having fun with your new iBike!
1. yes, just don't let it warm up or cool down too much while inside.
Also so your mount must be tight and not move when attaching the iBike, etc
2. Well, if you took the iBike off right at the end of the 7.1 mile ride, no problem,
I think (never tried it) but basically the 7.1 is just a ride file at this point.
Now if you kept riding, you are stuck, I think. (Never tried it)
3. Yes, after downloading and analysis of the cal rides, the 7.1 sits in the iBike
and can be downloaded just like any other ride.
Now, having said all that, if the 7.1 turned into a ride greater than 7.1, with the end point
not at the starting point, then that ride file can't be of much use as the two halves are not
balanced for out and back. However you can still get a fair power output based on the last
of the coastdowns you did unless the last one was poor.
Since I am somewhat speculating on some of this, velocomp or Travis, please correct.
Russ

Re: New user questions
Like rruff said, that is perfectly fine--just be quick so that the iBike internal temperature doesn't change.myuce wrote:I recently received my iBike Pro and started having fun with it immediately. As I learn more about it, questions are popping up. Here are some:

When you are processing your calibration ride, you can click and drag to highlight the out & back portion of the ride, so be sure to highlight that 7.1 miles for processing.myuce wrote:2. Yes, you can download and open your out & back like a normal ride. If you are talking about looking at the data again in the window for processing coast-downs & the 4 mi ride, you can still do that if you still have the data in the iBike. It will download the data from the unit again. If you already erased the ride data from your unit but you needed to go back and reprocess your profile (say because you didn't highlight the out&back portion of your ride), you can send us your *.ibcd4m file and we can reprocess it for you and return a profile to you. When you save a profile from the cal ride window, a *.ibcd4m file gets saved in the "calibration rides" folder within your ride data folder.myuce wrote:3. This is normal. When you ride down a fast decent, your aero loss is a large positive number, your hill loss is a large negative number (meaning that gravity is helping) and you are probably mostly just along for the ride. It is very typical for your max aero loss and your min hill loss (the downhill gravity boost) to be much larger than the max rider power.myuce wrote:4. Re: New user questions
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I'm liking this little gadget more and more by the day...
Travis,
After doing this 7.1 mile calibration ride, I put my bike in the car and went home and downloaded everything. I know there was nothing else after the 7.1 mile point in the download screen, except a gap of empty space at the end that I see in every file I download. Do you think it's worth sending you this file for reprocessing it or am I O.K.?
Thanks,
Mehmet

Re: New user questions
If the bulk of the ride was the out & back, it should be fine
