Regional champs this passed weekend and i was all prepared, i freed up space on the pp, tightened the mount, fixed it securely, set the active profile to my tt profile.
got to the race and power was fluctuating between 0 and about 40 watts randomly. got pissed off with it, help the button down for 4 seconds or so to try and put it in pairing mode even though it has the correct wireless id (i checked before hand) and then it sprung in to life but the power seemed way too high. it was a windy day but rather handily perhaps the wind was a direct headwind when going east and the course was an out and back course to hit the wind twice.
please help. i really want this pp to work as i have been defending it loads at all the race meets where people like to laugh at it but im starting to see their point.

The only problem in your ride file is the first 8 minutes, where PowerPod was readjusting itself.
Its readjustment was caused by its being positioned differently on your bike, compared to the angle at which it was previously attached.
Here is a video that shows how to attach PP so that it will be in the same position each time you attach it:

If you want to be 100% certain that PP is calibrated prior to a big event, then before your race begins, ride around for 8 minutes (you probably do this as part of your warmup!). You can splice-off the warmup portion of your ride afterwards. Or, if you're using a Garmin for ride file recording, then leave your Garmin off during your warmup.

the problem is that if everything is ok then i have a race average of 324. whilst desireable, it is unrealistic. im fairly sure its circa 280-290...

OK, now I understand better...
Where is your TT mount attached? Please provide images. It looks like your PP is vibrating, causing excessive watts fluctuations.

Rusty, I use the combined Garmin/PP mount onto the aerobars, with PP horizontal and rotated back (not forwards) and locked down with the Allen bolt. I never move it from the TT bike (but do swap speed sensor with another PP). I calibrated the bike at Hillingdon on the aerobars on a very windy evening, and have now run it at two TT's at Hillingdon and two 25's. Provided it does not move, the recalibration is not needed. I get VERY consistent values, that I cross reference to the bikecalculator app to check output is reasonable. I target 290 watts, and have set a target of 330 for a 10 this season.
I would recommend the combo mount for TT. It's robust (and then some). I've also used it for my Fly 12, but access to the bolt turned out to be too awkward, so I use a different light now.
