Saving ibike rides on cd so I can clean my pc!
Saving ibike rides on cd so I can clean my pc!
I am hoping I can save my power profiles of my rides that I acquired using my Ibike pro (wired, gen 2, anything else?). Since my computer is getting full and slow, I want to save them to a cd, because I only have cd-rw drive, so I can put my computer back into it's original state, or like when I bought it. Do I have to change the file name or anything before I save the files to cd? Or do I have to upload the files to another pc or website only? Any tried and true suggestions would be wonderful! Thanks.

Hopefully you've saved all your rides in a folder, such as "iBike Rides". Wherever you've stored your rides, simply copy them on to your CD and then burn your CD.
You don't have to change the iBike file names or do anything else.

Ok, I put the files that were already in a folder named Ibike rides (I put them in the folder a while back) I burned them, but when I tried to open the files it says they are READ ONLY! Any ideas? By the way I right clicked on the rides individually to view the properties and it also said they are READ ONLY. Thanks.

That might actually be a good thing. That way instead of "Save", you would "Save As"... You are assured that you will purposely have to overwrite the files. Not something you can accidentally do. I keep two sets of each ride. One directory has all the original unmodified downloads and another has the post analysis files.
After you copy the files from the CD to your new computer just select all the files in the new location, right click, and remove the readonly status. That will change it also.

Thanks. I seemed to figure it out. I just put the cd in my cd-rom and then in Training Peaks WKO software I want to file at top, left, then clicked open workout. Where it says LOOK IN at the top of the new window I clicked on the cd I had in there, then I tried to look at a couple workouts. It worked just fine, even since the files were originally saved in Ibike for windows 2.

The other thing that you will want to be sure to do is save your profile(s) before you reformat your computer.nreimche wrote:I am hoping I can save my power profiles of my rides that I acquired using my Ibike pro (wired, gen 2, anything else?). * Select the menu item "Profiles -> Edit Profiles..."
* Highlight all of your profiles
* Click the "Export..." button and save them to a flash drive or something other than your HD.
If you have already reformatted, don't worry--you can use the "Extract" button on the same window to pull the most important profile numbers out of your ride files.

@Nreimche: What version of IBike2 for windows are you running? There was a bug in an earlier version that wouldn't allow users to open iBike files that were read only. That bug has since been fixed. See this thread for details on the bug you might be experiencing: http://www.ibikeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=277
