Tilt Function Is Going Nuts

Post by bassnbrew »

Ibike Aero, Gen 2

I've been having issues with my tilt readings. I'll calibrate before the ride and the tilt will change +/- 4% during the ride. I've tried re-calibrating during breaks but it doesn't seem to help. Usually when I analyze the results it will make the proper corrections...until this last ride. In the middle of the ride I noticed the tilt continually chaning like a gas pump running. The titl readings hit 500+ and 500-.

Thoughts on how to correct thisissue?

Try doing a hard reset of the unit. Take out the battery and flip it backwards for two seconds then put it back in normal. Let me know if this fixes the problem.

I posted the exact same problem a few days ago (see thread on weird slope readings) - what you described is exactly what happened to me.

I tried a hard reset as prescribed by Boyd and behaviour has returned to normal at the moment.
Seems strange that the same thing has struck twice in the last week.

Also (and this is unrelated to your problem). You don't have a profile attached to your iBike, meaning your wind scaling could be off and your don't have a riding tilt in there (which is a big deal for Gen2). If you hit the auto analyze button you can find detailed instructions on how to get a profile in your iBike.

You are also using version 2 of the iBike software. If you go to http://www.ibikesports.com/downloads.html, you can upgrade to the version 3 of the software for free.

Hi Boyd...thanks for the tips thus far. Downloaded the updated software and transferred the profile to the unit

Did the hard start.

What I'm seeing now is that the tilt doesn't change unless I'm pedaling the bike. After calibrating and while riding it seems to be flucuating a couple of % like before. I'll get off the bike and it will freeze where it's at. I can lift the front wheel up a foot and the reading doesn't change. I get back on the bike and it seems to operate again. Previously (prior to the ride above) it would work when it wasn't mounted to the bike. I tried some coast downs and they failed. I even tried the hard start a second and third time.

Bassnbrew - exactly the same as happened to mine last week. However, the hard reset seems to have made mine return to normal.

Tried a new battery today and had the same results. Right now I'm watching the unit on the table jump around from -4% to +50%. I'm out of ideas???
